Terms of Service
Last updated: October 15, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and BACKLINE LLC ("we", "us"), the maker of Paper Cutout Studio (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What the Service does
You upload photos and videos, and the Service turns them into paper-cutout images and collage videos using automated image processing (machine-learning models that find subjects and edges, and our own paper effects) running on rented cloud computers. Results are generated automatically and can vary; they won't always pick the subject you meant or look exactly as you hoped.
2. Your account
- You need an account, made with your email address, and you must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age where you live, if that's higher).
- Keep access to your email secure: anyone who can open your sign-in emails can use your account.
- You're responsible for what's done with your account.
3. Your content
- You own what you upload and what the Service makes from it. We claim no ownership.
- You give us permission to store, copy and process your uploads only as needed to run the Service for you: making your results, keeping them for you to download, and keeping the Service working and safe. We don't sell your content or use it to train machine-learning models.
- Only upload what you have the right to use. You confirm that you own your uploads or have permission from whoever does, and from the people shown in them where that's needed.
- Files are kept for a limited time (see the Privacy Policy), so download anything you want to keep.
4. What's not allowed
Don't use the Service to upload, make or share anything that:
- is illegal, or infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
- sexualizes minors in any way, or shows intimate images of anyone without their consent;
- harasses, threatens, defames or impersonates anyone, or is meant to deceive people about real events or real people;
- contains malware, or tries to break, overload, probe or get around the Service's security or limits (including automated sign-ups or use).
We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and report illegal content to the authorities where the law requires it.
5. Credits and payments
- Making a cutout or a collage uses credits. The price in credits is shown before you start.
- New accounts get some free credits. You can buy more in packs; payments are processed by Stripe, and we never see or store your card details.
- If a render fails or you cancel it before it's done, its credits come back to your account automatically. If a collage turns out shorter or smaller than you asked for (for example, a section running past the end of the video), the difference comes back too.
- Credits don't expire while your account is open, have no cash value, can't be transferred, and are lost if you delete your account.
- If something goes wrong with a purchase, contact us. We'll refund unused credits bought within the last 14 days on request, and any refund the law gives you is unaffected.
- Prices may change; changes never affect credits you've already bought.
6. The Service as it is
We work to keep the Service running well, but it's provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. We don't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that results will suit a particular purpose. We may change, add or remove features.
7. Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
8. Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from the studio page ("Delete my account"); that deletes your files and records as the Privacy Policy describes. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, or if we stop offering the Service (in which case we'll refund unused purchased credits).
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect; using the Service after that means you accept the new terms.
10. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes go to the courts there, except where the law where you live says otherwise.
